4-Skills Soccer Academy

Since 2013, 4-Skills Soccer Academy has been supporting, guiding, and advising soccer clubs in their structure and development of a strong youth academy and/or soccer organization. We provide certified courses for soccer and other sports clubs. We focus on pedagogical practices (the use of educational teaching methods) in sports while also creating a safe and positive learning environment.

In addition, we offer numerous soccer, sports, and outdoor activities during vacations, holiday breaks, and every Friday at various locations across The Netherlands.

 In January 2021, 4-Skills Soccer Academy received multiple recognitions (including the KNVB) for its distinctive method and approach. 4-Skills Soccer Academy is now part of the National Sports Agreement, allowing the course ‘Pedagogical Practices in Sport’ to be fully subsidized through local municipalities.

 The 4-Skills vision is focused on the social-emotional development of young players and the strong education of technical staff to provide all youth players with the best possible training within a safe and challenging learning environment—something every child deserves.

4-Skills Training Program

4-Skills Soccer Academy trains players to stand out: to be creative, daring in their actions, and confident in making the right choices on the field. Players learn to recognize and understand their own personal limits and abilities. This makes them confident enough to make mistakes, and in response, learn from those mistakes. That’s why mastering 1-on-1 situations is central to our philosophy. We offer structured technical training in progressive steps: dribbling technique, fast footwork, movement technique, shooting technique—ending each session with game formats to directly apply what was learned in match situations. Players will only attempt these actions in games once they’ve gained the confidence to do so during training.

4-Skills Method

With a unique method, 4-Skills ensures consistency, structure, and continuity for both the youth players and the volunteers providing training and/or coaching at their clubs. Partnering clubs apply our method across their entire youth academy, ensuring all coaches and team leaders are trained in the same approach. This means a child continues to grow within the same 4-Skills program, and coaches and trainers receive continuous education and support on how to guide and coach every child in both training and match settings. THAT is a huge strength. The ‘island mentality’ within clubs disappears, leading to greater unity.

The 4-Skills method is especially focused on individual development. Every child learns and develops differently and enters the sport at a different stage. Our method strongly takes this into account. We offer essential basic skills and always provide options to intensify training for those who need more support, or to deepen skills for those who progress quickly. This way, every 4-Skills training remains challenging, and each child’s development is tracked—ensuring motivation stays high and no one is left behind or insufficiently challenged.

4-Skills aims to provide professional guidance and support to sports clubs, volunteers, and youth — enabling strong development both technically and socially-emotionally. We recognize 4-Skills Soccer Academy for our soccer-related programs and activities, and 4-Skills Sports Academy for programs and activities within other sports organizations.

Our goal is to create a training environment where every child can develop with great joy and confidence. We provide the right conditions so that every child in our program is challenged, inspired, and continually grows into a creative, self-aware, and confident young person.
